What are Calories?

A calorie is literally a unit of energy that is obtained from consuming various foods and beverages. This energy is stored in the forms of carbohydrates, fats and proteins which are later used for daily activity and physical activity. Depending on your body type and activity level everyone requires a different amount of energy. Using the calculator above you will be able to determine your body’s daily caloric needs in accordance to your fitness goals.

Why Use a Calorie Calculator?

Depending on your fitness goals the number of calories you need to consume will be different. That is why it is key to use a calorie calculator to first calculate your maintenance calories. Maintenance calories are the number of calories you need in order to stay at the same size and weight. Once you have acquired this information you can then apply the following rules when trying to create a nutrition program:
